Hans Schmalfuß
Hans Schmalfuß (born March 28, 1894 in Hamburg ; † March 13, 1955 there ) was a German chemist and university professor.
Life
Hans Schmalfuß, son of the gynecologist Gustav Schmalfuẛs , began to study at the University of Jena . In 1913 he became active in the Corps Thuringia Jena and (as the 5th of his family) in the Corps Brunsviga Göttingen . After taking part in the entire First World War , he completed his studies at the University of Hamburg . With a doctoral thesis with Paul Rabe , he was promoted to Dr. med. et phil. PhD . The habilitation followed three years later . At the State Chemical Institute he then headed the Department of Organic Chemistry (1924–1926) and the Department of Biochemistry (1925–1941). He was appointed professor in 1928 and headed the Chemical State Institute in Hamburg from 1931 to 1941. The Nazi Party , he joined the 1941st In 1941 he went to the University of Posen . Until 1945 he worked there as a professor and director of the Institute for Agricultural Research and Inventory Management. In the post-war period in Germany , from 1946 on, he was waiting as a professor at the Research Institute for Agricultural Trade in Giengen an der Brenz . In 1950 he moved to the Institute for Applied Nutritional Science at the TH Hannover . In 1951 he was one of the founders of the working group of nutritional institutes . Most recently he worked for Deutsche Vacuum Oel AG in his native Hamburg until 1955 . He died shortly before his 61st birthday.
