Gustav Schröpler
Gustav Ludwig Schröpler (born April 12, 1830 in Lobositz , † September 24, 1901 in Ingolstadt ) was a German painter. He created numerous views of Ingolstadt.
Life
Gustav Ludwig Schröpler was a son of Andreas Josef Schröpler and his wife Josefa Schröpler, born. Man. He married Maria Magdalena Stahl from Plan bei Eger in 1856 and acquired citizenship in Ingolstadt on November 5, 1878. In the corresponding document he was referred to as a painter. In 1891 he received written permission from the Royal Fortress Gouvernement to capture picturesque points of the Ingolstadt Fortress in pictures. Reproduction, however, required special permission and its work was controlled by the military authorities.
Schröpler worked as a commissioned painter and had a kind of shop in the city theater. He also offered portraits and painted, for example, the Prince Regent Luitpold , who visited Ingolstadt in 1886 and 1887, but was best known for his views of the city, which document Ingolstadt's architectural history. Numerous pictures by Schröplers are now in the city archive in Ingolstadt.
Schröpler was apparently also known as the original, about which numerous anecdotes were spread that still persisted after his death. The Ingolstädter Zeitung of June 28, 1927, for example, refers to a special museum exhibit, a high wheeler built by Schröpler himself . Theater master Franz Illner is said to have supported him during the construction.
Schröplerstrasse in Ingolstadt was named after the painter in 1933. In 2009, the Ingolstadt City Museum showed Schröpler's works in an exhibition on Ingolstadt painters of the 19th and 20th centuries.
The artist Willi Pflüger was a great-grandson of Gustav Schröpler .
