Gustav Senfft from Pilsach

Friedrich Gustav Adolf Senfft von Pilsach (born December 25, 1790 in Lützen , † February 11, 1867 in Dresden ) was a royal Saxon lieutenant general .

Life

His family predestined him for a military career. In 1805 Gustav Senfft von Pilsach was made a lieutenant . Until his departure in 1847, he climbed the career ladder to lieutenant general of the cavalry. During this time he was his father's adjutant in the battle of Jena and Auerstedt , and later took part in the Russian campaign in which he lost eight fingers. In the years 1825/1826 he was adjutant to the later King Johann , in 1843/1844 he was given the post of governor of Dresden.

family

He came from the original noble family Senfft von Pilsach and is the son of Major General Friedrich Senfft von Pilsach (1741-1822) and Luise Karoline von Dieskau (1765-1824). He received his first name in memory of King Gustav Adolf of Sweden , who died near Lützen in 1632.

Gustav Senfft von Pilsach married Luise Henriette Sophie Countess von der Schulenburg (1790-1854), daughter of Count Heinrich Moritz von der Schulenburg-Heßler and Erdmuthe Henriette Countess von Bünau in Baumersroda . From this marriage there were seven children (four sons and three daughters), including the cavalry general Adolf Senfft von Pilsach (1816–1897), the cavalry general Hugo Senfft von Pilsach (1821–1903), and the colonel and royal Saxon head stable master Clemens Senfft von Pilsach (1827–1878).
