Gustav Sperling
Gustav Sperling (* 19th century; † 20th century) was a German wrestler from Essen . He wrestled in light and heavy weight in the Greco-Roman style .
Gustav Sperling started, like many wrestlers at that time, only in tournaments in his home country. At the Unofficial Wrestling World Championships in 1905 in Duisburg , he took third place in the category over 85 kg body weight. He achieved the same placement at the Wrestling World Championships in 1907 in Frankfurt am Main , again in the heavyweight division. At the wrestling world championships in 1910 in Düsseldorf , he finally achieved the greatest success of his career with the world title in the heavyweight division.
His only podium finish at national championships came with third place at the German championships in 1906 .
