Gustav Viebrock

Gustav Viebrock (born January 5, 1929 in Rüspel , Elsdorf municipality ; † January 15, 2019 in Harsefeld ) was a German entrepreneur and founder of the solid house manufacturer Viebrockhaus in Harsefeld.

Life

Gustav Viebrock was born in Rüspel in 1929 as the son of a dock worker. He actually wanted to become a teacher , but stopped attending the teachers' seminar in Bad Bederkesa and instead did an apprenticeship as a bricklayer . His father had advised him to do this, since Germany would have to be rebuilt after the Second World War . In 1951 he graduated from the Rastede Building School .

After having worked as an architect for several years, Viebrock took over a construction company in Harsefeld on September 1, 1954 , which was urgently looking for a successor and which at the time employed four people. The construction company developed under the name Viebrockhaus into an employer with over 1000 employees. In 1984 his son Andreas took over the management, but Gustav Viebrock remained active in the company as senior partner until his death.

Church engagement

Viebrock was a devout Christian ( Evangelical Lutheran ) and was a member of the Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hanover from 1983 to 1995 , 24 years member of the parish council of the Buxtehude parish and 25 years chairman of the parish of the Harsefeld parish. He supports social projects in South Africa , India , Belarus and Russia .

Private

On June 3, 1955, Viebrock married his wife Elfriede, with whom he had two children. Shortly after his 90th birthday, he died on January 15, 2019 in Harsefeld and was buried in Harsefeld on January 19.
