Gustav Wilhelm Tietgens (born December 7, 1839 in Hamburg ; † April 26, 1910 there ) was a German businessman and politician .

Life

Tietgens did an apprenticeship at the Hamburg company Tietgens & Robertson before working for Tietgens & Robertson in New York from 1859 to 1861, then in Valparaíso . From 1862 Tietgens returned to Hamburg and became a partner in Tietgens & Robertson in 1866.

Tietgens was temporarily deputy chairman of the supervisory board of Disconto-Gesellschaft , and he was also a member of the supervisory boards of the following companies: Hamburger Freihafen-Lagerhaus-Gesellschaft , Waren Kreditanstalt Hamburg, London and Hanseatic Bank Ltd.

Tietgens did volunteer work, in 1869 he was a member of the building deputation, in 1870 he worked at the lower court, and from 1884 he was a member of the finance deputation.

From 1886 to 1895 Tietgens belonged to the Hamburg citizenship , from 1893 as a member of the right-wing parliamentary group .
