Gustav Ziegler (architect)
Gustav Ziegler (born December 17, 1847 in Karlsruhe , † February 19, 1908 there ) was a German architect of historicism .
Gustav Ziegler, son of the gold-maker Johann Baptist Ziegler, attended the Karlsruhe Lyceum , worked as a carpenter in Zurich and studied at the Karlsruhe Polytechnic from 1866 . After graduation, study trips to Italy followed. In 1876 he opened his office in Karlsruhe as a private architect and quickly became known for his designs, especially for residential buildings. His buildings, mainly in southern Germany, show style elements from the early Renaissance and were designed by the architect himself, right down to artistic details such as stone masonry, carving and ironwork. This made Ziegler one of the most popular architects of the Karlsruhe bourgeoisie in the late 19th century and until after the turn of the century .
From his marriage to Elisabeth, b. Uetz, there were three daughters and a son.
