Gustav van Treeck
Gustav van Treeck (born June 1, 1854 in Hüls near Krefeld , † January 12, 1930 in Munich ) was a German glass painter .
Born the son of a glass painter, van Treeck studied at the Nuremberg Art School from 1867 to 1872 . From 1873 he worked in Munich, and in 1888 he set up his own glass painting workshop there. He was a member of the Munich Association for Christian Art . In 1903 he was given the title of “Royal Bavarian Court Glass Painter”.
Gustav van Treeck mainly made lead glass windows for churches in Germany, Switzerland and the USA. His success is evidenced not least by being awarded gold medals at the world exhibitions in Chicago and Barcelona . The glass painting workshop he founded in Munich was taken over by his sons Karl van Treeck, Gustav van Treeck jun. and Konrad van Treeck sen. continued and still exists today.
