Prince Gustav of Denmark , full name Christian Friedrich Wilhelm Waldemar Gustav of Denmark (born March 4, 1887 at Charlottenlund Palace , Copenhagen , † October 5, 1944 at Egelund Palace) was a member of the Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg house , a branch line of the House of Oldenburg .

Life

Gustav was the fourth son of the Danish King Frederick VIII (1843–1912) and his wife Princess Louise Josephine Eugenie (1851–1926), the only child of King Charles XV. of Sweden-Norway and Princess Luise of Orange-Nassau .

In 1915 he became captain à la suite .

Prince Gustav remained unmarried throughout his life and had no children. As Prince of Denmark, he was buried in the traditional burial place of the royal family in Roskilde Cathedral.
