Gustave Martelet SJ (born September 24, 1916 in Lyon , † January 14, 2014 in Paris ) was a French theologian .

Life

Gustave Martelet was a professor in Lyon, Paris and Rome for over fifty years, including at the Pontifical Gregorian University and the Center Sèvres . He took part in the Second Vatican Council as a council theologian of the French-speaking bishops of West Africa .

Martelet was considered an expert on the life and work of Teilhard de Chardin .

He has published numerous books and essays, particularly on topics of Christology, Revelation and Resurrection of Christ.

He was a member of the International Theological Commission. In 2013 he received the Prix ​​du Cardinal-Grente of the Académie française .
