Gustavo Nery de Sá da Silva (born July 22, 1977 in Nova Friburgo , Rio de Janeiro ) is a former Brazilian soccer player who was most recently under contract with the EC Santo André .

Career

Nery began his professional career in 1996 at the former Pelé Club FC Santos . In Europe, the left defender had brief engagements with Werder Bremen in the 2004/05 season and most recently in 2007 as a loan player with Real Saragossa . In both cases, however, he only made a few league games. After playing for SC Corinthians in São Paulo for the past few years , he joined Fluminense FC at the beginning of 2008 , but moved on to SC Internacional in Porto Alegre in July .

Nery is a ten-time Brazilian international . The highlight of his career was winning the South American Championship in Peru in 2004 , in which coach Carlos Alberto Parreira, however, did not call up some of the stars playing in Europe. Nery's second major success was winning the 2005 Brazilian Championship with SC Corinthians, which fell at the time in the club's history when controversial donors controlled the club.

The most lasting was Nery's stay at São Paulo FC between 2000 and 2004, where he scored 10 goals in 88 league games and won two very prestigious regional championships. Over the years, Gustavo Nery was also briefly on the ball in 1997 for Coritiba FC and in 2000 for Guarani FC from Campinas in São Paulo.
