Gustavo Agustín Viera Velázquez (born August 28, 1995 in Asunción ) is a Paraguayan football player . He plays in the central midfield.

Career

Gustavo Viera received his athletic training at the Paraguayan first division club Rubio Ñu from the Santísima Trinidad in Asunción . On December 1, 2012, he came as a 17-year-old for his first appearance in professional football when he came on in the league game against Club Nacional (0-1) in the 16th minute for Jorge Brítez . For the 2013 season he made the leap into the professional squad and came to regular appearances. In mid-August 2014, the player was sold to the Brazilian first division club Corinthians São Paulo . Viera received a contract until August 2018. There he was first used in the U-20 youth team of the club. At the end of June 2015 he was then integrated into the professional squad. In the 2015 championship season , he only sat on the bench twice when he won the title. For the following season in 2016 he was loaned to his youth club Rubio Ñu .

In June 2018 it was announced that Viera would be moving back to Paraguay. He signed a contract with the Independiente FBC . Viera moved again in January 2019. He received a contract with Club Sportivo San Lorenzo .

National team

Gustavo Viera was appointed to the Paraguayan U-20 national football team while he was still at Club Rubio Ñu . With the team he took part in the U-20 South American Football Championship in Argentina in 2013 and in Uruguay in 2015 . In 2013 he reached second place with the team, but was only used once. Two years later, he played seven games as a regular during the tournament and scored one goal. However, the national team only reached sixth place.

In 2016, Viera made four appearances with a U-23 selection at the Toulon tournament .
