Gustaw Olizar (born May 3, 1798 in Korostyshiv in Volhynia , † January 2, 1865 in Dresden ) was an aristocratic marshal of Kiev, writer and owner of the village of Korestyszow in Volhynia.

Life

Olizar attended the Krzemieniec high school. After finishing school he was elected aristocratic marshal of Kiev at the age of 24 .

Olizar was a highly educated man and known as a humane aristocrat . As a poet and publicist, he was friends with the famous Polish poet Adam Mickiewicz . With him he exchanged views on political and scientific topics on the Crimean peninsula. He wrote numerous political and literary writings such as memoirs of an eccentric .

In 1825 he was arrested by his opponents Count Tarnowski and Count Chodkiewicz. After his imprisonment he left his home for health reasons and moved to Dresden , where he was considered the moral leader of the Poles who fled to Dresden after the November uprising in Poland. He died in Dresden and, like many of his Catholic compatriots, was buried in the Old Catholic Cemetery in Friedrichsstadt.

Olizar comes from the noble family of Olizar. He was the son of Filip Nereus Olizar and Ludwika Szczytt-Niemirowicz ( Niemirowicz-Szczytt ), the coat of arms Jastrzębiec . His brother was Narcyz Olizar .

Gustav Olizar was married to Karolina Molo in his first marriage. He had two children with her. The second marriage to Countess Jadwiga Jozefa Ozarowska remained childless.
