history

Origin of the good

From 1889 to 1906, when the city of Berlin multiplied its population in just a few years, the magistrate acquired larger areas outside the city limits, on which, on the one hand, sewage fields were to be created and, on the other hand, the residents had to be supplied with food of all kinds. A total of twelve goods were created around Berlin . Farm buildings such as granaries, barns and cattle sheds were built on the land. In addition, simple residential buildings for the farm workers and their families were built in the vicinity. One of the institutions designated as the Berliner Stadtgut was in Hobrechtsfelde. Almost at the same time as the work of the city estate began, the administration had a field railway network built to handle the transport tasks, which was called the Hobrechtsfeld Economic Railway .

After the war and during the GDR era, the buildings were used as a state-owned property for agriculture, with a number of renovations and new construction work taking place. However, the historical building fabric was not preserved. In 1990, with the fall of the Wall, the management was given up, the manor buildings were empty for more than 20 years. They belong to the newly founded Berliner Stadtgüter GmbH.

Manor design

On behalf of the Stadtgüter-Gesellschaft, the historic barn and the listed granary received the first new elements in 2011–2014 after the unsealing measures of areas and the exposure of old steel foundations had taken place. The work was also funded by the municipality of Panketal.

The Gutshofscheune was prepared as a temporary event space by Agrar GmbH Gut Hobrechtsfelde. For this purpose, the approximately 800 square meter self-supporting hall was cleaned, provided with lighting, room separation and seating. It serves as an event barn for various events, for which it can also be rented. Parking facilities for visitors were created north of the visitor entrance. South of the manor fence, the renovation of the one and a half hectare show enclosure for cattle from the surrounding forest pastures was completed in February 2013 . Additional arched halls for sheep and goats with a walk-in petting area as well as for donkeys and ponies were built, and circular paths open up the area. In addition, the event site was fenced off, the manor barn was separated off and the new northern visitor entrance was designed. A riding and lungeing for the pony hire, Krems Learn and horse riding was created for it. The water troughs set up in the exhibition enclosures received frost-proof feed lines.

In the spring of 2013, a themed playground was inaugurated for children on the estate. As a stylistic reference to the historic granary that dominates the site, the warehouse with a slide was created . A wooden wild horse with a spring seesaw and a nest swing complete the range of games. The resulting natural stone - paving roads were listed status cleaned, exposed, and where it was necessary, supplemented. The historic entrance gate was repaired. Berliner Stadtgüter GmbH had new power connections and new sanitary facilities installed for the event barn and the warehouse. Robust benches and roofed rest areas that were set up in spring 2014, as well as snack bars (on weekends and public holidays) ensure a high quality of stay on the estate.

Granary with exhibition

Listed granary in Hobrechtsfelde, visitor center since 2013

The Friends of the Barnim Nature Park e. V. took over the listed granary on the estate under heritable building rights and restored it from the beginning of January to the end of February 2013. A facade breakthrough was necessary on the west side of the warehouse for the new main entrance. Loose wall plaster on the first floor of the warehouse had to be removed; instead of the small emergency windows, the craftsmen put in new wooden windows. The warehouse was given a double-leaf entrance door at the main entrance. The iron-studded door in the stairwell was upgraded in accordance with the preservation of historical monuments, and all wood and metal surfaces were then thoroughly cleaned. The openings in the floor and ceiling were sealed dust-tight. All work and measures were coordinated with the monument protection and carried out structurally. On the first floor, a new power supply, safety and escape route lighting was installed via the stairwell. In mid-February 2013, the free-standing construction of the new external stairs took place in accordance with listed specifications without a direct connection to the site. If necessary, the metal staircase can be completely dismantled and, with new foundations, can be used as an additional viewing platform in the semi-open forest landscape.

After the granary had been rebuilt according to the monument, the exhibition elements were installed and further electrical work was carried out. In the historical room, all the necessary services were laid inconspicuously with an aluminum tube system. In close cooperation with experienced carpenters and with the exhibition organizers, backdrop walls, showcases, boxes and model constructions were produced. Exhibition boards with texts and images were designed and set up in coordination with the Friends' Association. On the upper floor of the warehouse, a varied and interactive exhibition was set up in accordance with monument regulations on around 180 square meters. Visitors can find out the history and stories about the Hobrechtsfelde sewage field landscape. The second exhibition deals with the project to convert the sewage fields into a semi-open, forest-dominated recreational landscape.
