The Good Muthagen located on the national highway 221 in Geilenkirchen -Boscheln south of Castle Breill . The existing building stock of the facility dates from the 17th to 18th centuries.

history

The property was first mentioned in 1292 with Christian von Muthagen. After 1400 it belonged to a Gryn von Aldenhoven , in 1452 to a Thewis von dem Balken and between 1460 and 1470 to a Seitz von Horrich. The owners in the 16th century were Qurin von Brempt (1515), Franz von Ferken (1593) and Adam von Hochkirchen (1593). In the 17th century, Wallraf von Schaellert (1608) and the von Hülsberg family (1618) appear as owners. In 1740 Muthagen came into the possession of the Counts von Goltstein , who sold the estate to Mr. Fremery from Eupen in 1820 . Later a Mr. Meyers is listed as the owner. Around 1873 Muthagen came into the possession of the justice of the peace and Prussian district administrator Bernhard Paul Friedrich Hugo von Scheibler and his family.

Since 1931 the estate has been owned by the Schulte-Böcker family from Westphalia , who run a riding stables and stud there .
