The Döbbelin manor , also known as Döbbelin Castle , is a manor house in the village of Döbbelin in Saxony-Anhalt, which belongs to the city of Stendal .

Architecture and history

The building was created in 1736 in the Baroque style by converting a previous building. The foundation walls and cellar of the older building were used for the new building. The client was Hans-Christoph von Bismarck , who inherited the estate in 1730, which his family had owned since 1344. The manor house is a single-storey, plastered building with a high basement. The house is covered by a hipped mansard roof. There is a three-axis central projection on both the courtyard side and the garden. A two-flight flight of stairs leads to the entrance . On a curved field in the gable are arms of alliance to see the families of Bismarck and von Jagow. The property also includes two farm buildings and a pigeon tower .

In 1921 Gertrud von Nordeck , née von Bismarck, took over the estate. She lived here until her death in 1963. The building was then managed by the community. The manor house housed apartments, consumption, post office, doctor's office, library and kindergarten. From 1991 onwards it was used again by the von Bismarck family. A renovation took place in 1999.

Justus Frantz conducted the Philharmonic of Nations in the garden of the house . Giora Feidman played the clarinet .
