Guy Babylon

Guy Babylon (born December 20, 1956 in New Windsor , Maryland , † September 2, 2009 in Los Angeles ) was an American composer and keyboardist who was best known for his collaboration with Elton John .

Babylon went to Francis Scott Key High School and then attended the University of South Florida , where he graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in music composition. He moved to Los Angeles. In 1988 he became a member of Elton John's studio and touring band and took part in the recording of the album Sleeping With the Past . In 1990 he also played with the group Warpipes , a side project of Davey Johnstone , another member of Elton John's band.

In 2001, the original soundtrack of the musical Aida , in which he was involved, received a Grammy Award . He also worked with Elton John and Bernie Taupin on the musical Lestat . He lived with his family in Los Angeles until his death and was a member of the six-member touring and recording band of Elton John. In total, he was on stage at the side of Elton John in 1351 concerts.

Babylon died - according to the current status of the investigation, an autopsy is pending - of a heart attack while swimming in a pool.
