Guy Konkèt

Guy Konkèt (actually Guy Conquette , * 1950 ; † May 23, 2012 in "Jabrun", Baie-Mahault ) was a French singer, percussionist and songwriter from Guadeloupe .

Konkèt, who combined the traditional Caribbean style of Gwoka and jazz in his music , wrote a. a. the titles Baimbridge chaud, Natali'O and La Gwadloup malad . In 1994 he worked as a musician and composer in recordings with the formation Soukoué Ko Ou ( Pierre-Edouard Décimus Présente Messaj ). In 2005 he presented the album Patrimwan ; In 2008 he recorded an album with saxophonist Jacques Schwarz-Bart ( Abyss ). In 2009 he performed with his band at the Paris jazz club New Morning . Shortly before his death after a long illness in May 2012, he presented the album Ka Effervescent .
