Coordinates: 30 ° 12 ' S , 151 ° 40' O Guyra Shire was a Local Government Area (LGA) in the Australian state of New South Wales . The area was 4,395 km² and last had about 4,400 inhabitants. In 2016 it went up in the Armidale Regional Council .
Guyra was in the northeast of the state, about 570 km north of the metropolis of Sydney and 430 km south of Brisbane . The area comprised 57 hamlets and hamlets, including Backwater, Brockley, Guyra , Llangothlin, Oban, Tenderden, Tubbamurra, Wandsworth, Wards Mistake and parts of Aberfoyle, Ben Lomond, Black Mountain, Bundarra, Ebor and Tingha. The headquarters of the Shire Council was in Guyra in the center of the LGA, where about 2,000 people now live.

The Guyra Shire Council had six members elected by the residents of the three wards (two each from A, B and C ward). These three districts were defined independently of the localities. The mayor of the council was also recruited from among the councilors.
