Guzmán Pereira , full name Ricardo Guzmán Pereira Méndez , (born May 16, 1991 in Montevideo ) is a Uruguayan football player .

Career

society

Pereira grew up in the Montevidean Barrio Cerrito de la Victoria . He took his first footballing steps at the age of eight at Club Juventud Unida , where he subsequently ran through the teams in baby fútbol . According to his club, the 1.82 meter tall midfielder Pereira has been in the squad of Uruguayan first division club Montevideo Wanderers since the 2010/11 season . There he made his debut on August 25, 2010 in the game against Nacional Montevideo in the top Uruguayan league. For the Wanderers, he played five games in the Primera División in the first season . It was followed by two more seasons with the Montevideans, in which he was in the league in 16 and 24 games on the field and scored one goal each season. In the 2013/14 season he played two games in the Copa Sudamericana and 23 games in the Primera División (one goal). His team won the Clausura 2014. On July 17, 2014, his move to Chile to Universidad de Chile was announced. With the Chileans he was used 42 times (two goals) in the Primera División . In the Copa Chile he played ten games (no goal) and won this competition with the team in 2015. He also played six games (no goal) in the Copa Libertadores 2015 and one (no goal) in the Copa Libertadores 2016 . In July 2016, he moved to Club Atlético Peñarol on loan .

National team

Pereira took part with the Uruguayan U-20 selection at the U-20 South American Championship 2011 in Peru . During the tournament he was used seven times (no goal). On November 13, 2014, he made his debut under national coach Óscar Tabárez in the game against Costa Rica in the senior team of Uruguay , which was played as part of the 3rd Copa Antel and ended in a 3-3 draw (6-7 on penalties ) when he was in the 68th minute of the game came on for Nicolás Lodeiro . Five days later, on November 18, 2014, he made his second international appearance against Chile. Including his last appearance in the “Celeste” on March 28, 2015, he has so far completed three international matches. Until then, he had not scored an international goal.
