Gvarv is a village in the municipality of Midt-Telemark in the province of Vestfold og Telemark in southern Norway . Gvarv is located at the northern end of Lake Norsjø , about seven kilometers east of Bø and Seljord . As part of the state- wide municipal reform , the village was transferred from the former Sauherad municipality to Midt-Telemark.
The name comes from the old Norwegian word hvarv , which means curvature, as Gvarv is located on the arch of the Bøelva River . The inhabitants of the place are called Gvarvians .

Gvarv is home to Norway's largest family of wild beavers. The place is characterized by apple orchards. A large fruit store is right in the center. In Gvarv on February 9, 1966, the lowest temperature ever recorded in Telemark was measured at -37.8 ° C. Also on June 20, 1970 with 34.4 ° C the highest temperature ever recorded.
