Gwendoline Chomba Konie (born October 9, 1938 , † March 14, 2009 in Lusaka ) was chairwoman of the Social Democratic Party and was a candidate for the presidency in the 2001 election in Zambia . It was only able to collect 0.59 percent of the vote.

Gwendoline Konie was a political figure of the decolonization and even more of the era of Kenneth Kaunda . In 1962 she was nominated for the Legislative Assembly . She later occupied various exposed positions. She was Zambia's ambassador to the United Nations and various European states. She chaired the drafting of the Fourth National Development Plan . For the World Conference on Women in Beijing in 1995, she organized the topic consultation.

Gwendoline Konie retired in 2005 and resigned from all offices. After her death, she was buried on March 17, 2009 with a state funeral in Lusaka.
