Gweta is a place in the Central District in Botswana .

In 2011 Gweta had 5,304 inhabitants. Except for a few public buildings, the place is structured in a rural way.
Gweta is north of the Makgadikgadi Pans . The environment is flat and the climate is arid . Maun is about 205 kilometers to the west, Nata about 100 kilometers to the east. Gweta is considered the gateway to the tourist area of the Makgadikgadi Pans.
history
Gweta is named after the croaking sound of local frogs.
Economy and Infrastructure
Gweta is a little south of the paved A3 , which connects Francistown with Maun in an east-west direction . A parallel gravel road also leads north past Gweta. Other gravel roads lead to the south and north. There is an airfield to the west of the village.
Gweta has a hospital with the Gweta Primary Hospital and two schools with the Gasebalwe Seretse Primary School and the Kutlwano Community Junior Secondary School .
