The Bammental grammar school is a grammar school founded in 1993 in the Bammental community in Baden-Württemberg with around 730 students and around 70 teachers. The catchment area is primarily the Elsenz Valley from Bammental to Meckesheim, as well as the communities of Gaiberg, Gauangelloch and Wiesenbach.

profile

The Bammentaler Gymnasium started operations as a branch of the Neckargemünd Gymnasium on August 17, 1993 with two classes and 41 students. In September 1995 it became an independent high school. In October 2012 the high school had 753 students.

One focus is the English- bilingual range of courses including the possibility of taking the “International Abitur Baden-Württemberg”. The school has been recognized as a MINT- friendly school and has an extensive musical and theater life. The school orchestra, the Bammental Symphony Orchestra , has over 50 students of all ages. For levels 5 to 7 there is an open all-day school . In the course level, economics is offered as a four-hour subject and science and technology as a two-hour subject.

On the initiative of the former headmistress Christine Konrad-Roth, an introduction to Dalton pedagogy by the American reform pedagogue Helen Parkhurst at the Bammental grammar school was examined from 2012 . After two test phases, however, it was decided at the beginning of 2016 to end the project, whereby the steering group was commissioned to select positive elements from the test phases for a new concept. The new focal points of school development are: mission statement, cooperation, feedback and differentiation teaching.

In the 2001/2002 school year, a pupil group from the 7th grade of the Bammental grammar school took part in the “Science and Technology Future Workshop” in the State Museum for Technology and Work (now Technoseum ) in Mannheim. They designed a greenhouse that should reflect the climate in the Rhine-Neckar triangle in 2050 and make it physically tangible.

Since 2018, the high school has been one of the base schools for molecular biology, which, thanks to special equipment and training, are able to offer special molecular biological experiments.
