Markus Jochum (born July 12, 1964 in St. Ingbert ) is a former German national basketball player and today's coach. He studied mathematics and sport in Heidelberg and was a full-time teacher at the Helmholtz-Gymnasium Heidelberg until he was released in June 2010 to work as a trainer for the basketball Bundesliga club EnBW Ludwigsburg. Since summer 2012 he has been teaching mathematics and sports at the Bammental grammar school .

He began his career in Dillingen an der Saar with the BBF Dillingen . At the age of 20 he moved to the USC Heidelberg in the 2nd basketball division . From 1987 to 1996 the development player played for BG Ludwigsburg in the basketball league . With Ludwigsburg he reached the semifinals of the German championship in 1992 and the final in the DBB Cup , where they lost to TTL Bamberg . Before the end of his career, he played at USC Heidelberg for four years until the end of the 1999/2000 season, before moving to the coaching bench.

After six and a half years at USC Heidelberg, he resigned his coaching position and then trained the women's team of KuSG Leimen in the 2nd women's basketball league . He had already played for Leimen in his spare time in the senior team. At the end of his coaching work for women, he achieved the championship title in the 2nd BBL.

For the 2010/2011 season he was introduced as the new head coach of the Bundesliga club EnBW Ludwigsburg . He had already played there as a player from 1987 to 1996 and had become a national player there. After a series of seven defeats from eight games, Jochum was relieved of his duties as head coach in December 2011. In spring 2012 Jochum won the German over 45 championship as a player with the senior team of KuSG Leimen. Since summer of the same year he has been training the women's team of TG Sandhausen in the second division.
