The Eversten Oldenburg ( GEO ) high school is a school in the Bloherfelde district of the Lower Saxony city of Oldenburg .

history

The Eversten Oldenburg grammar school was established in 1964 as a municipal grammar school and a spin-off from what was then the Hindenburg school, initially in the city center at Waffenplatz. It is the youngest of the seven grammar schools in Oldenburg. Teaching at the new grammar school as an independent school began on April 1, 1964 with grades 5, 6 and 7. In August 1967 the school moved to a new building at Theodor-Heuss-Straße 7 in the Bloherfelde district. In May 1970 the first Abitur exams were held. The school is named after the Oldenburg district of Eversten , although it is located in the adjoining Bloherfelde district, although the majority of the students come from Eversten. A special feature of the subject profile is that with the introduction of the reformed upper level in 1975, the school decided to offer sport as a performance subject and examination subject and to make the school a place of learning with a focus on sport.

today

Today the school is an open all-day high school with around 938 students and 90 teachers, where the foreign languages English, French, Latin and Spanish are offered. The headmaster has been Andreas Jacob since 2013.
