The Ort Gymnasium is located in the Ort part of the municipality of Gmunden in the Gmunden district in Upper Austria . The high school of the Sisters of Mercy of the Holy Cross is a listed building .
history
Founded in 1892 as a primary and community school with boarding school , exclusively for girls, by the Sisters of Mercy of the Holy Cross , the school's offerings were supplemented in 1905 with a timetable for the secondary girls' school . The term "girls boarding school", in school jargon "Pensi", comes from this time.
In 1910 the school building was increased due to the large number of people. During the Second World War , the school was a state secondary school for girls and resumed operations as a girls' secondary school in autumn 1945 .
The school is now open to girls and boys alike and is co-educational. The boarding school was closed due to lack of frequency.
