Athletic career

Until 1958 Stricksner played in the youth soccer teams of SC Chemie Halle . Even before he had played a league game, he completed international matches with the GDR youth national team . There he was called up for the first time on May 4, 1958 in the encounter between Hungary and GDR (0-2) as right defender. By 1960, Stricksner had played seven international youth games.

When Halle had to relegate from the league after the 1958 season (calendar year rhythm), Stricksner moved to the league team SC progress Weissenfels. There he played on the 2nd match day of the 1959 season in the encounter SC Progress - Turbine Erfurt (3-1) his first league game. He was used as the central defender and kept this position in all of his 42 league appearances (of 52) for the SC progress.

The 1960 season ended progress Weissenfels as a relegated player, and young national player Stricksner was delegated to the league team of SC Motor Jena. In Jena he immediately became a regular player, and after his initial appearances as a right defender, he then played in his traditional position in the defense center. Until 1965 he was part of the Jena family. In his last season in Jena 1964/65 he played continuously on the right side of the defense during the first half of the season, then coach Georg Buschner used him variably in all defensive positions. In 1962/63, Stricksner became champion with SC Motor and in 1965 he was in the final of the FDGB Cup with Jena ( SC Aufbau Magdeburg - SC Motor 2: 1). During his time in Jena, Stricksner played 102 of 114 Bundesliga games. In the 1961/62 European Cup Winners' Cup , Stricksner played all eight games before Jena was eliminated in the semifinals against Atlético Madrid 0-1 and 0-4. Added to this are the appearances in the two European Cup games in 1963 against Dinamo Bucharest (0: 2, 0: 1). He also came to an international match with the B national team in April 1961 (GDR - Hungary 0: 1).

For the 1965/66 season, Stricksner returned to Halle, where Hallesche FC Chemie had meanwhile set up its own business. There he had a regular place as a defender in the league team until 1969. Of the 104 league games played in the four seasons, he played 94 games, in the 1966/67 season he shot his only top division goal. At the age of 31, Stricksner played his last league season in 1969/70, in which he was only used six times in the first half of the season. After 15 games in the second-rate GDR league for HFC II, he ended his career as a football player in the higher leagues in the summer of 1970.
