The Bundesgymnasium und Bundesrealgymnasium Radetzkystraße - also known as Radetzkyschule - in Vienna is the oldest Realgymnasium in Austria (founded in 1851).
history
The school is located at Radetzkystraße 2a in the 3rd district of Vienna, Landstraße , the school entrance is at Hinteren Zollamtsstraße 7.
Initially, the students were taught in a side wing of the Rasumofsky Palace . The current school building was not built until 1873.
Shortly after the National Socialists came to power , numerous teachers and students were fired from school. In April 1938 the building was converted into a “collecting school” for Jewish children and young people.
On November 13, 2009, a memorial plaque for the victims from the period between 1938 and 1945 was unveiled.
Today the high school is oriented towards the natural sciences, but also offers a qualification in the modern language area ( Spanish ).
