The Seefeld Gymnasium in Thun is a public state school in the Canton of Bern . One training course leads to the high school Matura , at the Fachmittelschule the specialist Matura can be obtained. The Seefeld high school has been recognized as a UNESCO project school since 2007 .
history
Niederbipp and Hindelbank seminar
The history of the Seefeld grammar school began in 1838 in the Niederbipp rectory : the normal institute for female teachers was founded, the first female teacher training institute in Switzerland for toddler, primary and handicraft teachers. The following year the school moved to the Hindelbank rectory . In 1865 Director Boll resigned and suspended the seminar, but in 1868 it was reopened by Karl Grütter.
Thun seminar
In 1918 Karl Grütter and 17 seminarians move to the Pension Jungfrau in Thun . In 1923 the new building in Seefeld can be occupied. In 1957 an all-boys class was accepted for the first time. In 1977 the architecture firm Atelier 5 won the competition to expand the seminar with the project A very strange school . In 1978 co-education was introduced. In 1988 the new buildings can be occupied.
Seefeld high school
In 1994 the Thun and Spiez seminars began to cooperate to establish a music-pedagogical grammar school. 1997 the first quarters are accepted. In 2004 the bilingual German / English Matura (INES) is recognized. In 2007 the school was recognized as a committed UNESCO associated school.
Educational offer
The Seefeld grammar school offers English and Italian as a basic third language subject , biology / chemistry, philosophy / psychology / pedagogy , music and artistic design , a bilingual Matura training in German / English and the promotion of talented students as the main subjects .
Concerts, dance performances, theater performances, Cafés Philosophiques and exhibitions take place regularly at the Seefeld Gymnasium.
Thun High School
In the summer of 2014, the Thun Seefeld and Thun Schadau high schools merged to form the Thun high school with two locations.
Partner school
The partner school of the Seefeld grammar school is the Aprilov grammar school in Gabrovo ( Bulgaria ).
