Gymnetron rotundicolle is a beetle -type from the family of weevils (Curculionidae).

features

The beetles are 1.9–2.5 mm long. The brownish to brownish-black colored beetles have an elongated-oval shape. Sensor and legs are reddish-brown, the femurs and tarsi can darker. Stripes consisting of protruding and stripes with adjacent bristle hairs occur alternately on the wing covers . The wing covers are usually colored black-brown from the 1st to the 4th or 5th space. The wing cover ends and the back part of the wing cover seam, however, are brownish in color.

distribution

The original occurrence of the beetle species extended over Central Asia, Russia and the Middle East and reached in the west as far as Bulgaria . In recent years the distribution area has expanded more and more to the west. Since the early 2000s, first finds have been reported from numerous European countries and regions, including Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Veneto and Ticino. The species has now also arrived in Switzerland and Baden-Württemberg.

Way of life

The host plants of the beetle species are Persian speedwell ( Veronica persica ) and germander speedwell ( Veronica chamaedrys ). The larvae develop in these .
