Gypsophila torulensis is a species of gypsum herbs ( Gypsophila ) in the carnation family (Caryophyllaceae).
description
Gypsophila torulensis is an annual plant . It is hairy glandular. The numerous stems are thin, upright-ascending and 7 to 28 centimeters long. At the bottom, their diameter is 0.5 to 2 millimeters. The leaves measure 5 to 10 × 1.3 to 2 millimeters and are inverted-lanceolate, more or less pointed and green.
The inflorescence is a very loose and multi-flowered panicle . The bracts are 1.5 to 4 millimeters long and obscure-lanceolate. The flower stalk is 5 to 10 millimeters long. The calyx is bell-shaped, 2 to 4 millimeters long and divided over two thirds of the length. The calyx teeth are elongated, pointed to pointed, 0.6 to 1.5 millimeters long and membranous at the edges. The petals are 3 to 6 × 1.8 to 2 millimeters in size, whitish or pink, wedge-shaped and edged. The capsules are 2 to 3.8 × 1.3 to 1.8 millimeters in size, elongated and sunk into the calyx. The seeds are 0.6 to 0.8 × 0.5 to 0.8 millimeters in size, black-brown to blackish and kidney-shaped to almost spherical. There are flat tubercles on their surface. Each capsule contains six to ten seeds.
Gypsophila torulensis flowers in June and fruit in July.
Occurrence
The species is endemic to Torul County, Gümüşhane Province , northwestern Anatolia, Turkey . The previously known specimens were found on rocks made of calcareous rock at an altitude of 1,100 meters.
Systematics
Gypsophila torulensis was first described in 2013 by the Turkish botanist Murat Koç . Within the genus Gypsophila , the species is placed in the Macrorrhizaea section. It is closely related to the wall gypsophila ( Gypsophila muralis ).
