Gypsophila yusufeliensis is a species of gypsum herbs ( Gypsophila ) in the carnation family (Caryophyllaceae).

Gypsophila yusufeliensis is a tufted, perennial plant with a woody rhizome . It is completely hairless. The stems are numerous, thin, upright-ascending, (15) 25 to 40 (50) centimeters long and have a diameter of 0.5 to 1 millimeter at the base. The leaves are linear, (1.5) 3 to 5 (6.5) × 0.6 to 1 millimeter in size, more or less pointed and green.

The inflorescence is a very loose and multi-flowered panicle . The bracts are 1.5 to 3, rarely up to 6 millimeters long, linear-lanceolate and dry-skinned at the edges. The calyx is bell-shaped, 2.5 to 3 millimeters long and divided over a third to half the length. The calyx teeth are triangular-lanceolate, 1.2 to 1.5 millimeters long, pointed to pointed and broadly dry-skinned at the edge. The petals are whitish, more or less violin-shaped, 3.5 to 4 × 1.8 to 2 millimeters in size and more or less well-edged. The capsules are almost spherical to ovate, 1.5 to 2 × 1.8 to 2 millimeters in size and are located inside the calyx. They each contain four to eight seeds. The seeds are black-brown to blackish, 0.9 to 1.2 × 0.8 to 1 millimeter in size, kidney-shaped to almost spherical and have papillae.

Gypsophila yusufeliensis flowers in July and August and fruit in August.

Occurrence

The species is so far only known from the district of Yusufeli , Artvin province , northeastern Anatolia, Turkey. Here it grows in a damaged oak forest on dry, stony slopes in the crevices of silicate rocks at altitudes of 1250 to 1260 meters above sea level. NN.

Systematics

Gypsophila yusufeliensis was first described in 2012 by the Turkish botanist Ümit Budak . Within the genus Gypsophila , the species is placed in the section Corymbosae . It is closely related to Gypsophila patrinii .
