Gyula Németh (Turkologist)

Gyula Németh (Hungarian: Németh Gyula, in German version: Julius Németh ) (born November 2, 1890 in Karcag , Kingdom of Hungary , † December 14, 1976 in Karcag People's Republic of Hungary ) was a Hungarian linguist and Turkologist .

Life

Nemeth graduated from the Eötvös Kollégium in Budapest in 1909 . From 1913 onwards, some of his works on the Turkish language were published in German in Berlin and Leipzig . From 1920 to 1943 he worked at the Kõrösi Csoma archive . From 1951 he worked for the Budapest magazine Acta Linguistica .

Nemeth was a member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences , since 1955 a corresponding and from 1969 a foreign member of the German Academy of Sciences in Berlin and since 1958 a corresponding member of the Saxon Academy of Sciences .
