history

The company was founded in 1909 as a gravel pit by Henrik Johan Henriksen and Waldemar Kähler. In 1919 the "Ølsted Kalksandstensfabrik" was acquired and the first Celcom aerated concrete was later manufactured there. In 1924 the company "Nymølle Skærvefabrik" is bought and sand-lime brick and gravel are sold. From 1937 the company tried to produce aerated concrete in Denmark, too, and relied on the successful productions in Sweden. As Celcon Ltd. Company the company from 1950 is capable of production.

In 1962 the two partners Gustav Kähler and Finn Henriksen (sons of the original company founders) separate and the company is split into two parts. As Henriksen og Henriksen A / S , Finn Henriksen continues the production of aerated concrete, with Gustav Kähler starting the production of mineral wool , and for this purpose the company Rockwool is founded.

After setting up locations for the production of aerated concrete in Grays / southern England (as part of a cooperation agreement with Christiani & Nielson ), Staffordshire , Gadbjerg and Pollington , the company has achieved a Europe-wide group structure. 1985 the share is admitted to trading on the Copenhagen Stock Exchange .

In 1990 the group structure was changed and "H + H International A / S" was founded. The subsidiary H + H Industrie GmbH (H + H Expan GmbH) is founded in 1991 for the production division. The company is expanding in these regions as part of the opening up of the Eastern European countries. After acquiring a minority stake in Kingsway Group plc in 1999, the Norwegian Scanpor A / S and the Finnish company Suomen Siporex OY are taken over in 1999 . To expand and consolidate its market position in Scandinavia , the subsidiary H + H Celcon AB is founded in Sweden and the merger of H + H Expan A / S with Fiboment A / S is completed.

In 2002 the German aerated concrete works in Wittenborn (formerly Hebel aerated concrete) and Hamm- Uentrop (formerly Ytong Deutschland AG) are bought by the Xella Group due to an antitrust requirement and form H + H Celcon GmbH. With these acquisitions, the company is also present on the German market for aerated concrete.

On March 12, 2012, the Federal Cartel Office prohibited the takeover of the majority of shares in H + H International A / S by the Xella Group due to the creation of a dominant position for Xella in the market for aerated concrete and lightweight concrete blocks on the North German and West German regional markets.
