Héctor Croxatto Rezzio (born July 3, 1908 in Valparaíso , † September 28, 2010 ) was a Chilean scientist .

Growing up in Temuco , he studied medicine at the Universidad de Chile in Santiago , where he received the title Médico Cirujano (surgeon) in 1930 . Physiology, biology and biochemistry were among his research areas in the period that followed. For two decades he taught physiology at the Instituto de Educación Física y Técnica des Casa de Bello. Later he was dean of the medical faculty of the Universidad Católica de Chile . In 1969 he was accepted into the Academia Chilena de Ciencias . Seven years later he became a member of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences of the Vatican . In 1979 he was awarded the Chilean Premio Nacional de Ciencias . 1985 awarded him the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile , the honorary doctorate . In 2002 he also received an honorary doctorate from the Universidad Metropolitana de Ciencias de la Educación .

  • 1979: National Science Prize ( Premio Nacional de Ciencias ) of Chile for his experimental studies in endocrinology
  • 1985: Honorary doctorate from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile
  • 2002: Honorary doctorate from the Universidad Metropolitana de Ciencias de la Educación
