Hémecht

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hémecht ( Revue d'histoire luxembourgeoise ) is a magazine on Luxembourg history that has been published quarterly by Sankt-Paul-Verlag since the end of the Second World War .

It was founded in 1895 under the title Ons Hémecht together with the “Association for Luxembourg History, Literature and Art” and in the early days mainly comprised the contributions of village pastors to the history of the homeland and parish. According to Romain Hilgert's judgment , the magazine was "primarily known for its one-sided, conservative, patriotic historiography". In 2006, the publisher Saint-Paul distanced himself in writing from a critical contribution by the historian Denis Scuto .

In 1948 it was re-established and was published until 1961 under the title T Hémecht . From 1963 it was published under the direction of Joseph Maertz , then until 2011 the magazine was directed by Paul Margue .

From No. 3 in 2011 (back to 1895 in its 63rd year), the magazine appears with a new editorial team: Paul Dostert , Norbert Franz , Sonja Kmec and Michel Pauly . Their new editorial program promises to align them with the international standards of a scientific journal, such as the introduction of peer reviews and consideration of the work being done at the University of Luxembourg .

From 1948 to 2011 the magazine published a Bibliographie d'histoire luxembourgeoise every year . Once the same has been discontinued, there is only the online search engine of the National Library , which body is obliged to publish a national bibliography under the 2004 Act on Cultural Institutes .
