history

The Hôtel de Chalons-Luxembourg was built from 1625 for Guillaume Perrochel, who was the king's maître d'hôtel . The plans for the Hôtel particulier are attributed to the architect Jean Thiriot . The building is named after two residents: the Chalons, a merchant family from Rouen , and after Marie Amelot Béon de Luxembourg, who bought the Hôtel particulier from the widow Perrochel in 1659. The new owner had two small side extensions added to the garden side.

In 1915 the Italian poet Gabriele D'Annunzio lived on the ground floor of the house. The house, which had been completely stripped of its interior fittings by its previous owners, came into the possession of the architect Jean Walter , who donated it to the city of Paris in 1948. In 1990 the facades of the two stately homes were renovated, but at the moment (autumn 2010) the buildings are empty and are left to decay.

architecture

The building takes up the entire width of the narrow property. The garden adjoins the corps de logis . The brick and white limestone house has two floors and a loft extension. The hipped roofs are made of slate in the style of the Louis XIII period. covered.

portal

The portal to the street was built in 1659 together with the outbuilding for the servants. This created a first courtyard.
