Högling is a district of Fensterbach in the Upper Palatinate district of Schwandorf .

geography

Högling in the Fensterbachtal is surrounded in the north-east by a smaller mountain range and the Federal Motorway 6 ; the flat corridors extend to the southwest along the Fensterbach stream. The window stream, which runs through the landscape from north to south with its calm and straight course, divides the long stretching town into two parts: the old town center in the east and a settlement that arose in the 1970s in the west.

history

Högling was first mentioned in a document in 1133, and the long-distance road from Amberg to Bohemia ran through Högling as early as the Middle Ages . The postal service established in 1615 from Cologne to Prague also went via Högling-Jeding.

The first church in Högling, which was built in honor of St. Margareta, was consecrated in 1136 by Bishop Otto von Bamberg and completely renovated in 1714 and extended in 1927. Five years earlier, in 1922, Högling was made an expositur. The 800th anniversary of the Church was celebrated on July 19 and 20, 1936, and the 850th anniversary on July 20, 1986.

Jeding also has a chapel dedicated to the Virgin Mary.

Before merging with the community of Fensterbach on January 1, 1972, Högling was an independent community that included the community of Jeding and five hamlets (Baumerhof, Hüttenhof, Ödfriedlhof, Weiherhaus am Fensterbach and Ziegelhütte).

The community and fire station, built in 1967, was made available to the Högling volunteer fire department after the Högling community was dissolved.

In 1973, the Höglingen school was dissolved due to the joining of the Dürnsricht-Schmidgaden school association and converted into a kindergarten for the community of Fensterbach.

The rectory with parish hall was built in 1989 by the Catholic Church Foundation.

Culture

In Högling and Jeding there is still a very active club and community life, which is reflected in the numerous festivals.
