Heinrich Hüner (born February 15, 1881 in Visselhövede , † September 21, 1945 in Celle ) was a German writer .

Life

Heinrich Hüner's parents ran a small farm in Visselhövede. As a child he was involved in all related work. His teachers discovered his talents and encouraged him. At the end of school he decided to become a teacher and left his inheritance to his younger brother.

Hüner underwent strict training at the preparation institute and the teachers' college in Verden . It was difficult for the parents to finance this. As a young teacher, he successively took over teaching and organist positions in Otze , Behningen and Stellichte . He took care of local history, researched and hiked by bike and train. While still in Stellichte, he passed his high school teacher examination and later the rector examination, which however never came to fruition.

In 1910 he came to the middle school in Celle as a teacher. He got the job from Clemens Cassel , who had just retired from school. Here, in addition to school, he found a rich field of activity that interested him at least as much as school. In 1913 the city's “non-profit association” decided to set up a library . Heinrich Hüner arranged the books and added to them over a period of months. For him, books were treasures that he found difficult to access in his youth. He administered the books until the First World War and took care of them again later.

In 1919, Hüner was one of the founders of the "Freie Volksbühne", which replaced the "Summer Theater" at that time. From 1921 to 1933 he took over the management of the stage entirely. It brought work, worries and financial difficulties with it, as it was difficult for him to save her through the period of inflation . (Quote from his biography: “There was always concern when the value of money dropped extraordinarily. ... Fortunately, Mr. Schenk from Schulzeschen Buchhandlung helped us through the worst of the inflation by collecting the money that was collected every month for the events , immediately in safekeeping and put them in books so that they remained stable in value. Without these safeguards we would have got into the most difficult situations, after all, once, when a performance was actually carried out, the monetary value of all amounts collected at the beginning of the month was equal to the value of two pfennigs. ” ) He goes on to say that many people from Celle were of the opinion that the“ Freie Volksbühne ”in the post-war period was the best that was culturally possible.

Heinrich Hüner brought numerous renowned artists to Celle. The list of theater performances, concerts, readings, exhibitions includes many typewriter pages. Even then, the Thomaner came from Leipzig, other choirs and the Berlin cathedral organist Fritz Heitmann (1891–1953) also visited Celle.

In 1933 a member of the NSDAP was supposed to take over the management of the Volksbühne. Heinrich Huner did not want to join this party. He resigned from office.

From now on he devoted himself to his literary inclinations. He hiked or cycled the paths that he later published in the “Hiking Guide for Celle and the Südheide” . In the attic of his apartment at Blumenlage 13 (today's Blumlage) in Celle, he wrote articles on local calendars and for various newspapers on an old Mignon typewriter. He wrote a lot in Plattdütsch . " The underground corridor " and " The Gilkenheide " appeared as a little book.

He left behind many manuscripts, including the novel "Die Hexe von Ahnsbeck" , which he still wanted to bring out. Even plays are among his estate. Heinrich Hüner knew all the personalities of that time in Celle. He was an avid visitor to the “Plattdütschen Gill” and the “Lönsbund”.
