Culture and sights

The manor of the manor
Manor chapel
  • The estate, which is still privately owned by the von Behr family , is worth seeing. The manor house (1703/04) and a two-storey half - timbered warehouse (17th century) are the most important buildings.
  • The Protestant St. Georg Christophorus Jodokus Church , former manor chapel (1608), is a "rare example of a high-quality manor chapel from the early 17th century with uniform architecture and furnishings".
  • The upper mill, built before 1392, belonged to the neighboring manor for centuries until it was leased as hereditary interest in 1786 .

The donkey from the fairy tale " The Bremen Town Musicians " is said to have lived in Stellichte. A long-distance cycle path that connects all four sites where the four animals are said to have lived and that leads through Stellichte, the “Town Musicians Path”, was inaugurated in 2008.

In Stellichte there are no street names, only house numbers that residents, postmen, vendors and visitors have to use for orientation.

In the 2003 district decision of the 21st state competition "Our village should be more beautiful - our village has a future" , the village of Stellichte was the winner. As part of the same competition at the state level, Stellichte received an award as one of the seven most beautiful villages in Lower Saxony.
