From March 1, 1974 to December 31, 2019, the previously independent municipality of Kroge was one of eight localities in the municipality of Bomlitz . Since January 1, 2020, Kroge and the other seven localities of the former municipality of Bomlitz have been districts of the city of Walsrode.

Kroge is located directly on the federal highway 440 , which leads from Dorfmark via Visselhövede to Rotenburg (Wümme) . The federal highway 27 runs twelve kilometers away to the southwest, and the federal highway 7 runs four kilometers away to the southeast.
