Altenboitzen is a district of Walsrode in the Heidekreis district , Lower Saxony .

geography

The village is located southwest of the main town in the Lüneburg Heath . The Jordanbach flows through Altenboitzen and flows into the Böhme further southwest .

In Altenboitzen there are no street names, only house numbers that residents, postmen, vendors and visitors have to use for orientation.

history

On March 1, 1974 Altenboitzen was incorporated into the city of Walsrode.

Culture and sights

Altenboitzen was in the 2001 competition Our village has a future one of the most beautiful villages in Lower Saxony. The place is on the Verden (Aller) –Walsrode Nord line of the Verden-Walsroder Railway , which has existed since 1910. It was also called the Jordan-Bomlitz Railway until it was closed between Bomlitz and Altenboitzen . The Hollige West - Böhme railway line has had a new owner since 2012 and has been relocated to a 600 mm gauge. Since then, narrow-gauge trolleys have been running on the route together with a small train that is pulled by diesel and sometimes steam locomotives. From May to October 3, there are daily trolley trips for guests.
