Location of Honerdingen in Lower Saxony |
Honerdingen is a district of the city of Walsrode in the Lower Saxony district of Heidekreis.
location
Honerdingen is located 2 km east of the city of Walsrode on federal highway 209 . The district of Meinerdingen borders Honerdingen to the south. The district of Tietlingen is 4 km northwest of the city limits of Bad Fallingbostel . The total area is 8.5 km² with about 900 inhabitants. Honerdingen borders on the area of the former municipality of Bomlitz and the city of Bad Fallingbostel.
Honerdingen is located south of the Böhmeknies , in which the south-west facing river strikes shortly to the north-west and partially forms the border to the former municipality of Bomlitz. This middle section of the Böhme valley is cut more narrowly than the other rivers of the Südheide. The former steep slope of the Boehmetal “ Honerdinger Schweiz ”, cut up by numerous spring channels, has fallen victim to sand mining. South of Meinerdingen the Steinförthsbach flows through the protected landscape Röhrsmoor west. In addition, to the west of Honerdingen and Meinerdingen there is an older valley with boggy meadows that is now abandoned and continues the line of the Warnau valley across the Böhme and Steinförthsbach to the south.
history
The place name Honerdingen and the names of the two districts of Meinerdingen and Tietlingen are derived from old Germanic clan names . Places that end with -ingen are quite common in the region.
Early history
In the Lüneburg document book, under document no. 64, there is the donation of the Meinerdingen church from the noblemen of Garßenbüttel to the Walsrode monastery in 1269 , as a thank you for having one of his daughters accepted into the monastery. Even at that time, the St. George Church in Meinerdingen was a parish church . In addition to its authentic shape and the various renovations in all epochs, its location on the southern outskirts of Meinerdingen is rather unusual. In terms of architectural history, the small hall building dates back to the beginning of the 13th century. About a hundred years later - dendrochronological examinations of the timber show a timeframe from 1377 to 1387 - extensions (raised hall, choir, vault) were made and the wooden bell tower was built.
Honerdingen and Tietlingen were first mentioned in documents and property registers in the 14th century.
The villages of Uetzingen , Elferdingen and Wenzingen, which belong to Walsrode today and to Bomlitz until 2019 , on the opposite, northern side of the Böhme, were still part of the Honerdingen farmers in the 18th century. In 1810 this peasantry was divided into Honerdingen on the left of the Böhme and Honerdingen on the right of the Böhme because of a new demarcation that was made after the occupation of the Electorate of Hanover by French troops . It was not until a century later, in 1912, that Honerdingen was given the name of the community of Uetzingen on the right of the Böhme .
History in the 20th century
The community office / fire station was built in the 1950s exactly on the border between Honerdingen and Meinerdingen . On March 1, 1974, the previously independent community of Honerdingen was incorporated into the city of Walsrode.
The postcodes of the municipality Honerdingen:
- 1941–1961: (20a) Honerdingen Post Walsrode
- 1961–1974: 3030 Honerdingen Post Walsrode
- 1974–1993: 3030 Walsrode 1
- since 1993: 29664 Walsrode
However, Honerdingen never had its own post office. The district of Tietlingen has always been supplied by post via Bad Fallingbostel due to its direct proximity to the district town.
New development area
In the period between 1960 and 1980, a number of urban gaps were closed. The places Honerdingen and Meinerdingen have grown together in the meantime. At the beginning of the 21st century the new building area "Wilhelm-Asche-Weg" was developed. It is located north of Bundesstraße 209 between "Bomlitzer Straße" and "Uetzinger Straße" and is the largest contiguous building area in local history. It is now completely built on. In 2007 the new development area "An der Sandkuhle" was developed on the site of the former sand-lime brick plant in the north of Honerdingen. It borders directly on the Walsrode – Soltau railway line . The development of the new building area "Vor dem Balken II" is planned for 2020, which will connect to the existing development north between Bomlitzer Straße and Grüner Weg.
