The Hüttenbläserschachthöhle is a shaft cave in Iserlohn in the Sauerland .
It is located in the Grüner Tal in the Sonderhorst nature reserve. The cave lies in a Devonian mass limestone depression that extends from Hagen to Balve .
The Hüttenbläserschachthöhle was discovered in 1993 by members of the Speläo gruppe Letmathe association. 1997 more cave passages were discovered. Currently (2014) the known corridor length is 4800 meters. The cave, which extends over three floors, has several entrances and is not open to tourists.
Protection expulsions
It has been part of the Sonderhorst nature reserve since 1995 . As one of the few completely natural large caves in the natural area, it was designated as an FFH Natura 2000 area (DE-4611-303) in 2004. It is the habitat and winter quarters for bats , including the water bat on the red list .
