An adaptation as a manga came out in 2019, followed by an anime television series in 2020 , which was published internationally as The case files of Jeweler Richard . content

One night, student Seigi Nakata ( 中 田正義 ) helps jeweler Richard Ranasingha de Vulpian ( リ チ ャ ー ド ・ ラ ナ シ ン ハ ・ ド ヴ ル ピ ア ン ), a handsome European, when he is attacked on the street. The acquaintance suits Seigi because he trusts the jeweler and instructs him to find out the origin of an heirloom from his grandmother. It turns out that this was stolen by Seigi's grandmother many decades ago, something Seigi already knew without revealing it. Now that he knows the previous owner, he wants to return the sapphire to her. But the old woman wants him to keep it. And Richard is so impressed by Seigi's honesty that he offers to work for him as a temporary worker. Seigi accepts and now regularly prepares the customer meetings in Richard's office, where a wide variety of people come to him to task him with the search for a gem or information about it.

During his work, Seigi learns a lot about the various jewels and the meaning of the stones, but also about what the stones mean to their owners, what harm they bring or what they can be used for. Richard also teaches him better manners - after all, he should behave appropriately towards customers - and also notices that Seigi's honesty and sense of justice often stand in his way. He is naive and hesitant, sometimes fearful for fear of harming others. Seigi harms himself and worries his friends. Richard always gives him advice; Seigi admires him for his wisdom and - albeit hidden - kindness. So it comes that Seigi realizes through Richard that a former school friend is trying to outsmart Richard with a gem, and another time Richard helps him to confess his love to his fellow student Shōko Tanimoto.

But one day Richard disappeared without having announced his departure. Seigi is depressed and worried. The store will soon be reopened by Richard's master Saul Ranasinha. From him Seigi learns about Richard's life in Sri Lanka and the family he comes from. Richard is now in London and Seigi travels after him to stand by him. There he meets Richard's cousin Jeffrey Claremont. He explains to him that the family has fallen out over the grandfather's legacy, which includes a £ 300 million diamond. Since then, his brother Henry has suffered from psychological shock, and the three Clairemonts who used to be close friends avoid each other. The inheritance can only be assumed if Richard enters into a marriage on certain conditions, which he has so far refused and avoids any contact with the family. Richard finally reveals himself to Seigi, who however agrees to help Jeffrey. It turns out that he, too, would be a possible candidate for Richard's marriage. So they stage the engagement in front of the family's lawyers and receive the diamond. Seigi wants to destroy it, but fails because it is just a much less valuable white sapphire . The expected wealth does not materialize, but family peace is restored. Richard, however, makes Seigi grave allegations that he traveled after him and took such a big risk. Back in Japan, where Richard from now on regularly visits his shop, which is now run by Saul Ranasinha, after some time he reciprocates Seigi's commitment to him: When Seigi's biological father, who beat his mother and has been separated from the family for a long time, reappears, Seigi stalking and pressurizes it's Richard, who Seigi helps with the stepfather and distributes the stalker.
