HAVI Logistics GmbH is a logistics service provider for the food industry that is active in 37 European countries.

history

In July 1975 Frigoscandia Deutschland GmbH started distributing McDonald’s frozen goods. McDonald's opened its first restaurant in Germany in Munich in 1971 and had handled the logistics itself until 1975. In April 1978 Frigoscandia founded the subsidiary Frigoropa . Frogoscandia no longer only acts as a freight forwarder, but also as a wholesaler to the McDonald's branches. At that time, their managing directors Andreas Rost and Kent Zohnne were confronted by McDonald's with the idea of restructuring the German business and introducing a total distribution of frozen, chilled and dry goods as in the USA . At that time, sister companies of Frigoropa Germany were already supplying McDonald's restaurants in Denmark, France, Austria, Sweden and Switzerland as a total distributor. In October 1981, WLS GmbH - Warenhandel + Logistik + Service was founded, which later gradually takes over these companies. Right from the start, WLS was conceived as a distributor in the US sense, as a wholesale and foreign trade company with a focus on logistics.

In October 1983, the first subsidiary of WLS was founded under the name ITS GmbH (Internationale Transporte und Spedition). Since the abbreviation IST was already taken, the new forwarding company was renamed STI in September 1986 . The WLS has grown steadily since it was founded. The company founded subsidiaries all over Europe, which, according to the same concept, supplied the restaurants of the customer McDonald's with goods.

In 1988 WLS GmbH relocated from the Great Tree in Duisburg to a so-called “Food Town” in Duisburg-Rheinhausen . In 1992, WLS and its nine subsidiaries were merged as a group of companies under the umbrella of Alpha Management GmbH , which was founded specifically for this purpose . All of the associated companies have since been referred to as the "Alpha Group".

Until 2008, the then 40 companies of the Alpha Group in Europe had different names and logos. In July 2008, the entire corporate group was renamed to the current name HAVI Logistics GmbH .

On February 16, 2017, a works council was elected for the first time in the company's history at the Bingen branch .

HAVI Logistics GmbH has been present at nine locations across Germany since January 2020. In addition to the headquarters in Duisburg, there are locations in Neu Wulmstorf, Wustermark, Bingen, Lederhose, Rheinberg, Ilsfeld, Günzburg and Wunstorf. HAVI Logistics primarily supplies system catering restaurants and convenience brands. In 2015, HAVI Logistics delivered around 395 million sales units from 67 distribution centers in Europe from the temperature ranges dry, fresh and frozen.
