HD 83443 is a late main sequence star in the constellation Vela, 142 light years from Earth . It has an apparent magnitude of 8.23 ​​mag.

In 2000, Michel Mayor discovered an extrasolar planet orbiting this star using the radial velocity method . This has the systematic designation HD 83443 b and orbits its star at a distance of approx. 0.0406  astronomical units with an eccentricity of 1.2% and has a minimum mass of around 0.4 Jupiter's masses.
