HICOM Automotive Manufacturers (Malaysia)
HICOM Automotive Manufacturers (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. ( HAMM for short ) is an automobile manufacturer in Pekan ( Malaysia ) and a subsidiary of DRB-HICOM Bhd.
history
The company was founded by Tata Motors in 1983 and was initially called Automotive Manufacturers (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. In 1997 the company was taken over by MTB ( Malaysian Truck & Bus , now Isuzu HICOM Malaysia ).
When DRB-HICOM took over the name in 2008, it became HICOM Automotive Manufacturers (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd. changed.
Models
The first assembled models were the Isuzu CKR 500 ZZ bus (1984) as well as the Suzuki SJ410 (1985) and the Citroën CX (1986). A little later, the Proton models Satria (1994), Tiara (1995) and Iswara (2000) were added.
The production of Citroën vehicles also included the BX , ZX and Xantia models . It ended in 2000.
Other brands produced are Kia (from 2001), Naza (from 2003), SsangYong (from 2006).
The Volkswagen Passat has been produced from SKD kits at HAMM since 2012 .
The current portfolio consists of Mercedes-Benz, Suzuki, Volkswagen and the commercial vehicle brands FUSO and Actros.
