HK Aranäs

The HK Aranäs (full name: Handbollsklubben Aranäs ) is a Swedish handball club from Kungsbacka .

The club's home venue is the Aranäshallen. According to its own information, it has 1,600 members, making the club the second largest handball club in Sweden; The club provides 63 teams (2010).

The club was founded as a men's team in 1947. In 1951 a women's team was set up for the first time, although this was not crowned with success. A second attempt to set up a women's team was successful in 1957. From then on, the men and women took part in the Swedish competitions with varying degrees of success.

The first men's team plays in the 2010/2011 season in the Elitserien , Sweden's highest league, after winning in 2007 with only one point loss to Division 2 and in the following year by winning the Division 1 in the Allsvenskan ascended. On February 28, 2010 the team qualified for the Elitserien. Three years later, Aranäs had to step into the second division. From the 2015/16 season, the team returned to the Elitserien. In 2018, Aranäs were relegated after losing to Önnereds HK in the qualifying round . Two years later, Aranäs returns to the Handbollsligan.

Well-known, partly former players of the club include Mikael Franzén , Mathias Franzén , Anders Franzén , Fredrik Ohlander and Pelle Linders .
